Hello Turtles

Sunday Morning July 19, 2009 sometime between 11am-12pm the sermon being taught, reminded me of the turtles I learned about a “long” time ago, the teacher television, that’s higher edumacation right dere. I didn’t have much time to reflect on the little guys right at that moment because I didn’t want to miss the Pastors next point. Church really helps me grow in my walk. Anyways, I decided to figure out the mystery of what parallel turtles have to Church and God. Prior to starting I was very aware this mystery could be unsolvable, just another wild goose chase my random mind likes to concoct at the slightest pause of stimulating activity, such as a the time of transition from standing to sitting or vice versa.

This was no goose chase, it was a turtle chase, and I am fast enough to catch a turtle. I am no turtle expert by any means however, so the scientific facts on the turtles maybe lacking but the main idea stays the same. With corny jokes and liability issues out of the way I will now share my concluding thoughts about the correlation between turtles, perhaps the slowest of God’s reptiles(?), and the Creator Himself. The turtles, the stars of this particular documentation, live in the ocean, but they are born miles away from the salt life, their natural habitat. As we can only truly live in God but must work toward living a flavorful salt life our intended habitat.[ “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.] Matthew 5:13. I also remembered the turtles were lead by the sun and had to follow the sun to have a chance to find the ocean and live. We also are lead by the Son, and we must follow the Son to have a chance to find God and live.

New establishments confused some of the turtles and lead them away with bright signs, and flashing objects, such as the local Wal-Mart, thinking that was the light they should follow. Again one of God’s slowest creatures unknowingly provides insight to life’s most important question: How should we live? The turtles that followed the “now open sign” rather than following the sun ultimately followed the way to their deaths. As we follow the way to our deaths when we follow the glow of sin rather than the Son our Savior. [Seek the LORD while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near] Isaiah 55:6
